UNILAG to host 11th NAPE-NMGS mini conference

The University of Lagos is set to host the 11th Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) Mini-Conference titled “Retooling Geoscience Education in Nigeria: Current Trends and Emerging Realities” alongside the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS).

The University’s Department of Geoscience from the Faculty of Science has been primed to anchor this mini-conference, organized by the NAPE-NMGS.

The event shall also feature the active participation of selected students from the Department of Geoscience across various universities across Nigeria under the student chapters of both associations.

The event is scheduled to be held from Thursday, 7th – Sunday, 10th September 2023 at the J.F. Ade. Ajayi Auditorium in the University of Lagos and the time is 10 AM daily.

Among other treatises to discuss at the seminar include Geoscience Education in the Development of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Mindsets, Relevance of Geoscience Education in Current Energy Transition Dynamics, and Environmental and Sustainability in Mineral Exploration.

The conference shall also include various interactive discussions on short courses, inter-varsity quiz competitions, and meet-and-greet networking/social evenings.
