UNILAG Calls for Applications in Innovation Challenges

By Dada Oluwaseunfunmi

The University of Lagos (UNILAG), has invited both teaching and non-teaching staff, to participate in the UNILAG Shelf-to-Market Innovation Challenge (S-MIC) and the Staff-Driven Efficiency, Entrepreneurship and Digitalisation (SEED) Challenge.

The institution noted that these innovation-driven initiatives are designed to transform research, workplace challenges, and promising ideas into practical solutions with meaningful institutional and societal impact.

Adding that the Shelf-to-Market Innovation Challenge (S-MIC) is for the academic staff of UNILAG. It is designed to help such staff turn research outputs, inventions, discoveries, technologies and other intellectual assets into solutions with value.

UNILAG said such academic staff will be supported through a pathway of solution development, market validation and more, with the aim of moving practical ideas into market ready products and services, capable of engineering solutions to real world needs. Staff across all facilities are encouraged to apply here.

The Staff-Driven Efficiency and Digitalisation (SEED) Challenge, is designed to help non teaching staff develop innovative solutions to everyday workplace challenges and improve institutional processes.

SEED encourages staff to identify gaps and inefficiencies and develop solutions that simply processes, reduce delay and increase productivity through entrepreneurship, technology, AI and data driven approaches. Non-teaching staff are encouraged to apply here.

Interested staff are encouraged to review the requirements for their respective challenges and submit their applications on or before Friday, November 13, 2026.
