Members of the University of Lagos Muslim Alumni Association (UMA), Southern Chapter, have paid a courtesy visit to the Rector of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Dr Engr. Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul, to felicitate with him and identify with the institution’s development strides in a reunion that celebrated the enduring bond of the UNILAG community.

Dr Abdul, a graduate of the University of Lagos, described the visit as significant, saying that it brought together members of the UNILAG community with whom he shared educational, professional and personal relationships.

He said the gathering showed how such ties could drive institutional development and national progress long after graduation.

The Rector appreciated his fellow UNILAG alumni for their goodwill and recognition of the efforts made to advance YABATECH, saying that transforming an institution requires investment not only in physical infrastructure but also in people, academic programmes, partnerships, innovation and sustainable funding.

He therefore stressed the importance of building relationships with alumni such as UMA, as well as professional bodies, industry, and government, to create a stronger ecosystem for institutional development.

Earlier, the chairman of UMA Southern Chapter, Alhaji Lanre Bakare, said the UNILAG alumni delegation was at YABATECH to primarily felicitate with Abdul and to show the association’s care and solidarity with him as one of its own members and ambassadors of the University of Lagos.

The Chairman described Abdul as a leader whose achievements had been made more evident by the visible developments taking place across the College, stressing the importance of accountability, transparency and service to humanity.

He said the visit was ultimately about the UNILAG family identifying with one of its own and encouraging him in his service to education and the nation.
