UNILAG alumnus selected for Global Teacher Prize

An alumnus of the University of Lagos, Dr. (Mrs.) Peace Sule, has achieved a remarkable feat by being among the esteemed Top 50 finalists of the 2023 Global Teacher Prize.

The Global Teacher prize is an annual US$1 million award by Varkey Foundation to a teacher who is dedicated to championing change and inspiring their students and communities around them.

The Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG, Professor Folasade Ogunsola congratulated Dr, Sule on her success on behalf of the organization, its Alumni and students.

The UNILAG-trained educationist is currently a teacher with the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission. In 2021, she won the best PhD Thesis Award in the Department of Education, University of Lagos.

“This incredible honor recognizes the dedication and passion I have poured into the field of education. It is a testament to the hard work of educators worldwide, who strive to make an impact on the lives of their students and communities everyday” she expressed in a recent LinkedIn post.

The top 50 finalists have been chosen from thousands of applicants from around the world and she encourages the global community to celebrate with her and to celebrate education as a beacon of hope and the pivotal role teachers play in shaping the future.
