The Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) has partnered with the University of Lagos (UNILAG) in efforts to reshape the landscape of marketing education.
According to ADVAN in a statement, the initiative is set to collaborate with higher institutes of learning in the country. It seeks to bridge the gap between perception and reality in the field of marketing.
It noted that the initiative would also enhance marketing students’ employability and advocate for contemporary and value-driven curricula, aligning academic learning with the dynamic needs of the industry.
Furthermore, the advertising body asserted that the collaboration will achieve key objectives, such as enhanced employability by dispelling myths and providing students with real-world insights.
It added that it would also equip students with practical skills that boost their employability in the competitive job market; promoting the integration of value-based and relevant curricula in higher education institutions.
The inaugural edition of the collaborative initiative is scheduled for Thursday, August 24, 2023, at UNILAG.
According to ADVAN, the event would cater for the postgraduate students of the Lagos Department of Business, featuring engaging discussions and insights.
Notable industry figures and thought leaders are slated to speak at the event as keynote speakers, including the President of ADVAN, Osamede Uwabanmwen; Marketing Director, Sub Saharan Africa, Pladis Global, Dr Omotola Bamigbaiye-Elatuyi; a professor of Marketing & Decision Sciences, Prof. Bolajoko Nkemdinin Dixon-Ogbechi, etc.
