300-level Emerges  Winner of MCSA Faaji Monday Cooking Competition

Penultimate students of Mass Communication, the Mavericks, have won the MCSA Faaji Monday Cooking Competition knocking out the reigning champions while Year 1 emerged as the runner-up.

The event which took place yesterday, July 1, 2024, at Jelli Hall (Multi-Purpose Hall) of the University of Lagos, was graced by many renowned chefs like Chef Miyonse, Opeyemi Famakin, and Iya Moria who served as judges for the cooking competition.

Representatives of the Penultimate, Doherty Eniola, Johnson Tunmise and Ukey Elizabeth prepared catfish pepper soup, pounded yam, and vegetable and coconut candy which the judges highly commended.

Other contestants are Teslim Muftiat, James Amarachi, and Esther Ireogbu representing 100-level, Emele – Ralph Kelechi and Eguujosi Dami Ogechukwuka representing 200-level, and Njoka Jaachi and Joy Ogechukwu representing 400-level.

The winners were compensated with N100, 000 and the first runner-up was awarded 50,000.

Speaking of her win, the 300-level representative, Eniola Doherty expressed her joy to have emerged as the winner of this year’s Faaji Monday. “Actually, when they announced it, I knew most of my classmates expected it because they were all positioned but I was still shocked and I didn’t even know when I cried because it was very overwhelming”, she said.

She went further to say that she had earlier expected 100-level to win because according to her, “there were little to no negative comments about their meal.
