Three students – Peter Jamodu, Tobi Aleji, and Nancy Ogbu-Nnachi – under the aegis of Team Foxtrot, have emerged winners of the second edition of the AdWave Competition.
The competition, which was sponsored by the Oxygen (02) Academy, started on the 7th of May and culminated in the presentation and awarding of winners earlier this afternoon.
Team Foxtrot went home with a cash prize of 300,000 naira and a scholarship worth one million naira to 02 Academy, a leading school of advertising in Nigeria.
Team November and Team Papa were the first and second runner-up respectively.
The first runner-up won 150,000 naira and internships for all team members at the Academy.
Speaking to our correspondent after winning the competition, Team Foxtrot expressed joy at their success in not so many words.
“I am so excited, like very very excited because it was a long journey, a whole lot of sleepless nights, a lot of back and forth but I’m happy we won. Thank you,” Nancy said.
“I’m really excited and grateful for the opportunity given to us. Thank you!” Tobi expressed.
Peter’s words, “I feel very excited. I’m happy. I’m glad. So many words.”
The award was presented to the winners by the founder of the academy and one of the judges, Ozoemena Mbanefo, popularly called Ozone.
When asked about the metrics for judging the contestants, Ozone said the judges looked at the main idea, strategy, and presentation.
His words, “The main idea took 50%, the strategy took 25%, and the presentation took another 25%.”
The Adwave awards of which this is the second edition, is an initiative of the Mass Communication Students Asscoaictaion, University of Lagos.
