The immediate past registrar of the University of Lagos, Mr. Oladejo Azeez has been honoured by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) UNILAG Chapter.
Azeez, who was the guest speaker at an indoor Leadership Talk organized by SSANU at the Faculty of Law Boardroom, UNILAG, Akoka. According to him, citizens must hold leaders accountable for their actions as leadership remains the bane of the nation.
He continued by saying that “a leader must hold sacrosanct Integrity and accountability. Responsible followers must hold leaders accountable for their actions. Followers must continue to ask questions. If we are indolent, leaders won’t show up”.
Mr. Azeez, in his speech, said he was delighted to serve UNILAG, adding that he gave his best. He said he learned many lessons and came out unscathed He said he learned many lessons and came out unscathed despite bottlenecks on his way.
“I led by example and tried to foster harmony with people I met. I operated an open-door policy. It was exciting serving the University. I pray it continues to move from glory to glory. I thank God and SSANU for this honour” he said.
The Chairman caretaker committee of SSANU, Comrade Razak Ademola Yusuf described the former registrar as an administrator par excellence and a hard-working professional.
The Bursar of the University, Yetunde Funmilola Adekunle, who described Mr. Oladejo as friendly and playful thanked him for serving the University wholeheartedly and praised SSANU for honouring the erstwhile registrar.
Dr. Folashade Ipaye, predecessor to Mr. Azeez who was present at the event thanked SSANU for hosting the event.
