New Faces of Mass Communication

The grand finale of the MCSA week saw the crowning of a new Mr. and Miss Mass Communication. Desmond Oluranti, a 200-level student, and Adenike Omonijo, a 100-level student, earned the title
Prominent individuals, including the Most beautiful girl in Lagos 23, Queen Adebolawa Abimbolu, Film Director, Ayomide Napson, Tofunmi Adekola, and popular actor, Iremide Adeoye, graced the event as judges.
The event featured 14 contestants; 8 male and 6 female, who outdid themselves with their dazzling outfits and their performances, from the traditional wear to the talent show and finally, the dinner wear.
Speaking on the preparation for the pageant, Oluranti said, “ The preparation was scary and interesting at the same time. I had to put in my best.”
“It got to a point I was seeing myself as a winner, when I prostrated, none of them did that. I also did a talent that no one did, people were singing, doing spoken words or comedy but I tied gele. I am a cosmetologist, and hair stylist and I tie gele. I had to do something unique when I tied Gele, I knew no one else could do a thing like that.” he added.
In an interview with our correspondent, the new Ms. Mass Communication, Adenike Omonijo, stated her plans as the face of the department, for the next year. In her words, “One thing I will do is to be involved in the social lives of the students, be much more involved for the upcoming year 1, such that they are inclusiveness for them in the activities of the department, be much more present and also very much available and probably bring in more opportunities and enlightenment socially for every mass communication student.”
The pageant winners received a cash prize of 75,000 naira each, while the runner-ups were awarded 50,000 naira each.
