A group from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria paid a visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS on Monday, September 11, 2023.
Led by Prof. Taiwo Asaolu, FCA, the founding Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, the team arrived at the University over the weekend for the re-accreditation of the Department of Accounting within the Faculty of Management Sciences.
Prof. Asaolu, expressing gratitude for the warm reception, affirmed ICAN’s positive intentions towards the university. He explained that the purpose of their visit was to assess the implementation of resolutions from the Institute’s previous accreditation visit.
He also highlighted some of the ways ICAN supports universities nationwide, such as providing
a financial award of N1,000,000 to Accounting professors delivering inaugural lectures, granting N500,000 to postgraduate students with successful proposals, allocating N100,000 to students’ annual week events, and offering scholarships to first-class Accounting graduates, among other initiatives.
Prof. Ayodele Atsenuwa, representing the Vice-Chancellor as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor
(Development Services), welcomed the team and assured them of the Department and Faculty’s complete cooperation.
She encouraged the Department of Accounting to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Institute.
Additionally, those present to welcome the team included Prof. Yetunde Zaid, the University
Librarian; Mrs. Olakunle Makinde, the Acting Registrar; Prof. Olusoji Ilori, the Director of Academic Planning; Prof. Olufemi Saibu, the Director of Quality Assurance and SERVICOM; Prof. A. A. Sulaiman, the Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences; Prof. Olatunde Otusanya, the Head of the Department of Accounting, and Drs. Iredele & Mohammed Ajape from the Department of Accounting.
