We salute the great University of Lagos- the university of first choice and nation’s pride at 60. We doff our hats and commend the landmark achievements of the university in the last 60 years.
The university in her 60 years of existence has raised quality manpower for the various sectors of the economy both locally and internationally. In the same vein, the school has also led results-driven research in many fields which has attracted international recognition for the school.
It is an undisputable fact that at various levels of governance in the country, UNILAG products have established themselves as primus inter pares among their peers.
We at UNILAG Sun are similarly proud of the achievements of the university in the educational sector in which we have produced Vice-Chancellors for other universities in Nigeria just as the school serves to mentor several institutions of higher learning in the country.
Statistical information released by the National Universities Commission (NUC), as well as the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), has consistently shown UNILAG as the university of first choice for majority of the candidates applying for admission under the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) annually, which has earned it the name university of first choice and the nation’s pride. Nation’s pride because the institution has not failed to deliver on her promise of quality education in deed and in truth to parents.
It is gratifying to know that in the 60 years of existence of UNILAG, the institution has become a brand. We, therefore, commend the various helmsmen and now, helmswoman who have worked concertedly over the years to make the branding of UNILAG a reality.
It is our hopes that with the investiture of the 13th Vice-Chancellor and first female vice-chancellor of the University at this historic point in the school’s history, the school will witness more record-breaking moments that will further catapult the UNILAG brand to an even wider global audience and prepare the institution to take active roles in the already here technological future.
