Dean Attributes Faculty Excellence To Good Student-Management Relationships.

The Dean of Management Sciences, Professor Abdul-Hameed Adeola Sulaimon, has attributed the longstanding track record of excellence recorded by the faculty to its unrestricted relationship with students.

During an interview with UNILAG Sun, he revealed that the faculty runs an open system that allows students to discuss their challenges and find solutions to their problems. 

“We have a good relationship with our students and we run an open administration. I am open to students anywhere, anytime they meet me. And they are free to talk to my colleagues too,” he said.

According to him, a major highlight of his achievement as the faculty dean is producing 97 first-class graduates during the 54th annual convocation ceremony, the highest among all faculties. In addition to this great feat, the faculty also received an award for being the first to release graduating students’ results. Due to its swiftness, two out of its first-class students were able to secure employment with the World Bank.

“They were given immediate employment on the condition that they graduate no later than September, and we produced their results by September,” Prof. Abdul-Hameed stated.

In its commitment to ensuring that the students maintain their high level of excellence, the Dean shared the faculty’s effort in securing bed spaces for some of its best-performing students. “Because they are our scholars, sometimes we appeal to get them accommodation,” he said.

The faculty is also working to install wireless internet access within the department to enhance students’ connectivity. “We’ve started the installation, but it won’t be functional until another two or three weeks,” he noted.

TProf. Abdul-Hammed further stated that the Faculty of Management Sciences is committed to strengthening its relationship with students to maintain its record of excellence, adding that the faculty is happy to solve students’ challenges. 

He went ahead to encourage students to follow proper channels for resolving issues within the faculty before escalating to higher authorities in the school. 

He advised, “If you have any concerns, feel free to share them with your students’ association, course adviser, Head of Department, and the Dean, before escalating to the Vice-Chancellor, relate with us; we are your parents. We want to continue to relate with you.”
