CMUL, NIHR GSU set to hold meeting

The Annual Meeting of the Nigeria Hub of the National Institute of Health Research Global Surgery Unit (NIHR GSU), based in the Department of College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL), is set to be held on the 12th of September, 2023.

The venue is at Lagos Marriott Hotel, Joel Ogunnaike Street, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, and the time is 2:00 pm prompt.

The NIHR Global Surgery Unit Annual Meeting is an important international event that connects leading experts, researchers, and practitioners in the field of global surgery from around the world.

The meeting acts as a forum for comprehensive discussions, knowledge sharing, and joint efforts to address critical challenges in the surgical care and healthcare systems on a global level.

Funded by the United Kingdom’s National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), the Nigeria Hub of NIHR GSU currently supports twenty-seven hospitals from Colleges of Medicine, Teaching Hospitals, and Federal Medical Centres across Nigeria.

The Hub is led by a Professor of Surgery (Paediatric and Surgical Epidemiology) in the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Lagos ( CMUL), Professor Adesoji Ademuyiwa. He is also the Head of the Paediatric Surgery Unit, at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

Through the Nigeria Hub, the University of Lagos has collaborated with team members of the NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Global Surgery such as the University of Birmingham, University of Edinburgh, and several hubs.
