UNILAG Student Crowned Most Beautiful Girl in Lagos

Hamidat Boluwatife Adegunle, a 300-level student of Mass Communication at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has been crowned the Most Beautiful Girl in Lagos. She won the title on Saturday, the 14th, at the grand finale of the event, which took place at Terra Kulture in Victoria Island, Lagos.

After going through five stages of the competition, 14 contestants competed for the grand prize at the finale. These 14 contestants represented several local governments in Lagos state.

During an interview with UNILAG Sun, Hamidat revealed that she considered dropping out of the competition due to some financial challenges she encountered. She said, “I had no sponsors and had to finance myself. At a point, it got too draining, and I wanted to quit.”

She noted, however, that the desire to let the world “see her” kept her motivated. “I want the world to see me, to see the real me, to see what’s inside. Because people just see the physical appearance and assume what they want to assume.”

Speaking on her victory, Hamidat described it as an experience that evoked mixed emotions, bringing a sense of validation and recognition of hard work and personal qualities. She expressed further that it was a feeling of pride and joy and a sense of responsibility for the opportunities and challenges ahead.

As the Most Beautiful Girl in Lagos, Hamidat plans to use her platform to advocate for people with disabilities and to promote women’s health. “My dream is to create a platform where people with disabilities feel heard, seen, and valued, and where women feel safe to share their stories and seek support without fear of judgment or stigma.”

She was gifted an all-expense-paid trip, five hundred thousand naira worth of wellness package, and other gifts from the event’s sponsors.
