UNILAG BEGINS PROCESS FOR NEW VC

The University of Lagos has notified the academic community and the general public that it is accepting applications for the post of a new vice-chancellor as the tenure of its current VC, Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, expires in November this year.

This announcement was made through a statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the University council, Oladejo Azeez.

The statement read, “Applications are, hereby invited from interested and suitably qualified candidates for the position in line with the provisions of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1993 as amended in 2003 and 2012 respectively.”

An eligible candidate, according to the statement, must be a professor for at least ten(10) years, not more than 65 years old as of November 11, 2022, an exemplary scholar with a good quantum of publications in highly rated journals, a person with the demonstrable capacity for original thinking and creativity, a person with astute managerial ability who can maintain the peace and academic stability for which the University is reputed, a scholar of outstanding national and international repute, with proficiency in ICT and considerable experience at top levels of University Administration, amidst many other criteria.

Candidates should apply by submitting twenty (20) copies of their detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).

They should also state in clear terms of not more than 1000 words, their vision for the University in the next five years.

The tenure of the post of the Vice-Chancellor is five years. While their remuneration and other conditions of service may be determined from time to time by the governing council, as appropriate.

Eligible candidates are also expected to log in to www.recruitment.unilag.edu.ng to complete the online application and print it out.

All applications are expected to be submitted not later than six (6) weeks from the date of this publication.

Short-listed candidates will now be required to make themselves available for interaction with the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board.
