The Finance Students Association of the University of Lagos (FINSA), in collaboration with the Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, is set to host the fifth edition of the Finance Symposium on June 9, 2025, at the J.F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium, UNILAG.
The 5.0 Edition, themed “Africa’s Financial Renaissance: Unlocking Potentials for Growth,” will focus on the structural issues defining Africa’s financial future.
In a statement by the association, the discussions will centre around the gap between Africa’s capital potential and the existing mechanisms for mobilisation.
The organisers noted the conference will address where capital is flowing, how it is deployed, the role of innovation, and the requirements for building financial systems that serve African economies at scale.
According to FINSA, the Group Managing Director (GMD) of Anchoria Capital Group, Sam Chidoka, will serve as the keynote speaker of the event, while the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Lagos State, Abayomi Oluyomi, will be the guest speaker.
As commissioner, he oversees public capital allocation and fiscal policy for Lagos, which functions as Africa’s largest subnational economy.
The organisers noted that Oluyomi’s inclusion marks his participation in a student-led event, focused on finance and economic development, adding that his presence will provide attendees with direct insight into how Lagos approaches public revenue generation, expenditure, and strategic deployment of funds.
