A former President of the Mass Communication Students’ Association and development communications specialist, Paul Agada, has called for increased youth participation in the electoral system.
He made the call in the backdrop of the Democracy Day celebration on Monday as a guest on the Campus Vibes show on UNILAG FM.
The erstwhile editor of UNILAG SUN noted that young persons have a golden opportunity to change their lives for the better by voting for individuals who are deliberate about good governance.
“Young persons cannot afford to be politically apathetic,” he said. “The opportunity cost for political apathy is bad governance because they are forgoing a golden opportunity to end bad governance and elect good leaders.
Agada added that the 2023 general elections are significant because it is the first time since 2007 that an incumbent president will not be vying for reelection.
He, therefore, urged the youth to seize the opportunity to register for the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) to exercise their right to vote.
