The National Universities Commission (NUC) will host the 2026 NUC Retreat with Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian universities from 13-14 of October, 2026, in Abuja to discuss regulatory compliance, governance, partnership and leadership in the Nigerian university system.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday, September 28, 2026, by L.M. Faruk, the commssion’s Director of Research, Innovation & Information Technology, who also serves as the Chairman, Local Organising Committee for the event.
It also noted that attendees will include Vice-Chancellors of all federal, state, and private universities, Strategic Partner Ministries, Departments, and Agencies( MDAs), resource persons, and selected staff of the commission.
The NUC stated that its aim is to deepen partnerships and foster a shared commitment among stakeholders, with expected outcomes including the adoption of a Communiqué outlining key resolutions and areas for collective action.
The statement noted that the regulatory body, look forward to welcoming all participants to collectively engage and explore pathways to a stronger and effectively governed Nigeria University System.
