By Divine Wariboko

The Department of Physics at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) received 10 HP laptops, donated by alumnus and Managing Director of Transition Energies, Engr. Olawale Oredolapo, to support teaching, learning and research activities.

The presentation took place at the Faculty Laboratory, on September 28, 2026, where representatives of the University and the department received the equipment.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, the Dean of the Faculty of Physical and Earth Sciences, Professor Olayinka Asekun, appreciated Oredolapo for the donation, noting that the laptops would improve access to modern computing resources for lecturers and students, particularly following the restructuring of the former Faculty of Science into three Faculties.

The Head of the Department of Physics, Prof. V. C. Ozebo, also commended Oredolapo, who graduated from the department in 2010, for giving back to his alma mater.

He noted that alumni support through the provision of teaching and learning resources could enhance students’ academic experiences and contribute to the University’s educational objectives.

Oredolapo attributed his professional success in the global oil and gas industry to the academic foundation and mentorship he received at UNILAG.

He stressed the importance of equipping students with modern technological resources to prepare them for an increasingly technology-driven and competitive world.
