Expedition 2025: 10 Years of Innovation

The 10th edition of the Expedition Conference organised by the Nigerian Economics Students Association (NESA), University of Lagos (UNILAG) Chapter was a celebration of a decade of excellence, education, experience, and expertise.

The event was held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Nurudeen Alao Hall, Distance Learning Institute (DLI), UNILAG. This year’s theme focused on connection and youth involvement in innovation.

In his opening speech, President of NESA, Temidayo Ogunmuyiwa, urged the students to learn beyond the classroom.
“Don’t just be onlookers, connect, engage, and network,” she said.

The first keynote speaker, Juliet Ebehijie, Managing Director and CEO of AfriGoPay Financial
Services Limited, shared her journey from studying science in UNILAG to building a career in tech and finance.

“Knowledge builds confidence, and it’s essential for young persons to grow,” she asserted.

Highlighting PalmPay’s role in the fintech space, Chika Nwosu, CEO of PalmPay, explained that technology is shaping the
future of finance in Nigeria, noting that “success today is built on fresh ideas and innovation.”

Another important voice at the conference was Mrs. Victoria Ajayi, CEO of TVC Communications, who spoke about the changing media landscape, said that careers are no longer fixed in one direction. She also encouraged students to think deeper about what they consume online.

A major highlight was the launch of the fourth edition of ULECONS, NESA’s official academic journal. It was unveiled by a team of eight students and officially launched by Dr. Akinleye, Head of the Department of Economics.
Dr. Ayodele Shittu also spoke at the launch, calling ULECONS a platform for fresh ideas.

“ULECONS helps you go beyond your course notes and share your thoughts with a wider audience,” he said. He further encouraged students to write and contribute to future editions.

The conference featured several panel discussions, including a breakout session focused on
the future of finance, tech and entertainment.
The speakers shared useful tips for students and young professionals looking to enter these fields. They also discussed how digital skills and the right mindset can open doors to new
opportunities.

The event was lit up with performances, Questions and Answers Session, Giveaways and
interviews.
