Students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have called for more reliable classroom technology, faster release of results and stronger action on feedback, following the University’s latest Student Experience Survey.
The Director, Quality Assurance & SERVICOM (QAS) Unit, Prof. Olufemi Saibu, disclosed this on Tuesday, October 6, during a media engagement at the Senate Chamber, Akoka, to mark the 2026 International Customer Service Week.
According to Saibu, the fourth consecutive Student Experience Survey, conducted in September 2026, had 241 student participants, with 87 per cent rating their best course as Excellent or Very Good and 90 per cent rating their lecturers’ effectiveness as Good or better.
“Our students told us hard truths,” he said.
“They want reliable classroom technology, faster release of results, and proof that their feedback leads to action.”
He said that the Quality Assurance and SERVICOM Unit had audited 113 lecture halls and rooms across the University’s 19 faculties before students resumed for the academic session.
Saibu added that the Unit also assessed 27 laboratories and monitored Computer-Based Tests and conventional examinations in 13 faculties, while visiting 16 faculties and units between February and July 2026 to strengthen quality assurance structures.
The Director aid the Unit’s next phase would focus on a 10-point agenda, including closing the feedback loop, pursuing ISO certification, tracking graduate outcomes through a Graduate Employability Framework and Index, and expanding the network of Quality Assurance committees, SERVICOM Vanguards and QA Officers.
The three-day International Customer Service Week, themed The Extra Mile, runs from October 6-8, and featured a service awareness campaign, the launch of the QAS App, an exhibition, and a Stakeholders’ Forum and award ceremony.
According to Saibu, the initiatives are aimed at improving service delivery across the University and ensuring that feedback from students and other members of the UNILAG community translates into measurable changes.
