UNILAG graduates 15,753 students

No fewer than 15,753 students of the University of Lagos are set for graduation ahead of the University’s 51st convocation ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe announced.

He made this known during his address at the convocation press conference which was held on Wednesday, June 30.

He said “the three-day convocation ceremonies will culminate in the graduation of a total of 15,753 students. These comprise 7,754(49.2%) who will be awarded first degrees and 7,999(50.8%) postgraduate students.

He also announced that the university will be awarding 160 diplomas in social works and human kinetics.

A total of 281 students bagged first-class degrees, while 31 students made distinctions in the college of medicine.

Alimi Adedeji from the Department of Mechanical Engineering emerged the overall best graduating student and the best in the field of science with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of (4.98)

Similarly, Popoola Victoria from the Department of Economics emerged the best graduating student in the field of Humanities with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of (4.90).

Moruf Olatunji from the Department of Marine Science presented the overall best Ph.D. Thesis.

Mesagan Ekundayo from the Department of Economics presented the best Ph.D. thesis in the Humanities
