Unilag Commends Alumnus Achievement, As NatureNews Bags JTI Certificate

The University of Lagos management, on behalf of the entire University community, applauds Nature News for becoming the first media outlet in Nigeria to pass the journalism integrity audit, and be certified by the global Journalism Trust Initiative (JTI).

Unilag celebrates the outstanding achievements of its Mass Communication alumni, who are making waves at NatureNews. Aliu Akoshile and Hon. Raheem Adedoyin, in their respective roles as Founder/Publisher/Editor-in-Chief and Chairman of the Board of Directors, embody the University’s commitment to excellence and integrity and also showcase Nigeria and Africa’s talent on the global stage.

The Journalism Trust Initiative (JTI) is an ISO-standard audit established on 130 decisive and objective criteria, ensuring transparency and professionalism in media and editorial processes. It is operated by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), a renowned press freedom watchdog, and supported by over 130 global experts and organizations.

NatureNews is an independent newspaper focused on environmental issues, climate change, and sustainability. Earning JTI’s certification has placed NatureNews among the few news outlets around the world that can be trusted to provide verified information in its niche.
