The University of Lagos (UNILAG) currently ranks 2nd in Nigeria, having been placed in the 1001-1200 range globally in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
Released on October 9, 2024, this yearly ranking compares over 2,000 universities worldwide.
The rankings were based on 18 performance indicators which assess universities’ performance in teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.
UNILAG shares the 2nd position in Nigeria with Ahmadu Bello University, Landmark University, and the University of Ibadan. All these institutions are listed alphabetically in the rankings.
Internationally, UNILAG shares its 1001-1200 position with universities such as Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK), Central Michigan University (US), Technical University of Madrid (Spain).
In acknowledgement of this development, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, UNILAG’s Vice-Chancellor, has expressed gratitude to the university’s staff, students, alumni, and supporters for their contributions to the achievement.
She also called on the university community to embrace the FUTURE-Ready agenda aimed at building a prepared workforce for Nigeria, Africa, and the world.
