The Theatre for Value Initiative (TVI) is hosting a ticket-free theatrical experience themed Beyond the Stage: 7-Hour Inspirational Dance and Drama at the University Of Lagos.
The dance and drama event will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the main auditorium, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, Yaba, Lagos.
The TVI founder, Matilda Azum, stated that the purpose of the show being ticket-free is to give back to society and appreciate all lovers of live theatre across the world. She also revealed that the TVI Drama Tours Initiative clocked seven on November 8, which is what informed the seven-hour theatre show.
According to her, “The plays lined up for the show will showcase diverse societal ills with emphasis on the effect of abuse of hard drugs, especially among the youths. Celebrating seven years of taking our stagecraft to different schools in different local councils across Lagos State, we want to use the show to reach out to the youths to discourage them from getting involved in drug abuse and to promote sanity, well-being, self-worth, patriotism and love among the youth.”
Endorsed by the Lagos State Tourism Commission, Azum called for partnership and sponsors of TVI programmes to enable them to get to a wider audience, adding that abuse of hard drugs among the youth is a serious problem that should be immediately addressed.
