The University of Lagos Registrar, Mrs. Olakunle Esther Makinde, bows out in style as she advances the Vice Chancellor’s vision of automating the university’s system business processes and enhancing the professionalization of the registry.

Speaking with UNILAG Sun, the Registrar highlighted one of her duties as being the Chief Administrator while assisting the Vice Chancellor in providing quality administrative support for the university’s day-to-day operations. “It’s an expensive venture, but I’m happy to say that the university is on course,” she said.

Regarding the automation of transcripts, she said, “With the donation of a scanner by the Alumni, we now easily give out the transcript from 2010 to date at the click of a button.” Highlighting the professionalisation of the registry through staff learning, development, and policy formulation which she was able to achieve with the help of a set committee.

Discussing her key initiatives in the office, she noted that she was able to complete the preparation of a proper job description for all staff categories and implement comprehensive training programs to enhance capacity.

With her legacy built on value addition, she said, “Whatever one is doing, do it well. What is worth doing, is worth doing well.”
