The newly appointed Pro-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Senator (Dr.) Olanrewaju Tejuoso has expressed his commitment to providing a learning environment that provides digital opportunities for students and staff.

He spoke during an exclusive interview with the UNILAG SUN editorial crew led by the Head of Department, Prof. Adepoju Tejumaiye on Thursday, 1st of July, 2021 at the Council Lodge of the University of Lagos.

Responding to a question on what he wants to be remembered for after his tenure, Senator Tejuoso told UNILAG SUN that he wants to leave a digital legacy at the expiration of his tenure as the Pro-Chancellor by making the internet easily accessible for all students and staff of the institution of First Choice and The Nation’s Pride.

His words; “We are in a digital world now, I want to ensure that there are digital opportunities for students. That is peak, quality internet service for everybody and the opportunity to achieve all you can digitally.

“I want to be remembered for making the university students much more digital. Making the internet availability much easier for everybody on campus. Not only the students but also anyone that enters the University of Lagos, the internet service must be the best anywhere you are on the soil of the University of Lagos, whether you’re in front of the lagoon, anywhere  and it will be commercially friendly to all the students.”

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari through the Federal Ministry of Education on April 8, 2021 issued a statement that announced the appointment of Senator (Dr.) Olanrewaju Tejuoso as the Pro-Chancellor and the Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Lagos.

Meanwhile, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Lagos, Senator (Dr.) Olanrewaju Tejuoso, has said that the University should be known for positive things.

Sen. Tejuoso who said this during an exclusive interview with UNILAG Sun during the weekend was speaking against the backdrop of the recent negative developments which badly affected the image of the University.

Responding to a question on his immediate plans to restore cordial relationship between the University Management and the Governing Council, Dr. Tejuoso stated that everything possible would be done to move the University forward. His words, “I don’t want UNILAG to be known for anything like those events of the past. I want UNILAG to be known for only things that are positive.”

While stressing the need to learn from the mistakes of the past and build on them for progress, Dr. Tejuoso revealed that he would quietly study why there were problems before and then try to avoid all the factors responsible for the problems.
