UNILAG Engineering Students Clinch Top three Spots at 2026 Bode Osunkoya Competition

Engineering students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have won the top three positions at the second edition of the Bode Osunkoya Competition for the second year in a row.

The competition was held during the 2026 PSRG-Richardson Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Forum held from September 15-16, 2026, in Lagos.

Themed “Local Content Development: A National Strategy for Sustainable Growth and Industrialisation,” the competition challenged students to develop practical solutions to Nigeria’s industrial challenges.

A Systems Engineering Student, Muneedh Zafaran clinched first place with $1,000 and Certificate of Excellence.

A Chemical Engineering student, Boluwatife Victoria won second place with $750 and Certificate of Excellence.

An Electrical Engineering student, Temitope Jinadu won third place with $500 and Certificate of Excellence.

The three students received their awards from the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Richardson Oil and Gas Limited, Mr. Akin Osuntoki, in the presence of Dr. Dorothy Bassey, Chairperson of the Technical Board, Bode Osunkoya Prize.

The winners were commended for their analytical, data-driven approach to advancing local content, promoting local manufacturing and strengthening safety practices across Nigeria’s core industrial sectors.
