The University of Lagos Students’ Union (ULSU) has announced changes to the hostel clearance and allocation process for students.
The updates were contained in a memo issued on Friday, October 2, 2026, and signed by the Union’s Public Relations Officer, Peter Opemiposi, following a deliberation with the Dean of Student Affairs (DSA).
According to the union, under the new procedure, students will no longer be required to take their clearance forms to their departments for signatures from the Dean or Head of Department.
Instead, students whose online hostel payments have been reflected will obtain their clearance and hostel allocation forms directly from their respective halls of residence.
The student body said the hostel allocation forms are to be validated by three authorised signatories, Mr. Olayemi, Mr. Olatunji and Mr. Deji.
The union stated that students allocated hostel spaces must complete their physical hall check-in within five weeks from October 19, 2026.
It noted that failure to occupy an allocated bed space within the stipulated period will result in the revocation and reallocation of the space to students on the official waiting list.
The only stated exception is for verified medical cases, which must be submitted before the deadline.
ULSU urged students to take note of the updated hostel clearance and allocation procedures and share the information with other students.
