UNILAG, LASU, Others Set For 2025 Beach Soccer Tournament

The University of Lagos (UNILAG), Lagos State University (LASU), Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Lagos State College of Nursing, and Federal College of Education, and other institutions in Lagos, are set to participate in the annual Lagos Beach Soccer Tournament on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

The event is to be organized by the Lagos State Government, in collaboration with BrandEscort Communications at Atican Beach, Lekki, bringing together top higher education institutions in a celebration of sports, talent, and youth empowerment.

This year’s tournament is themed “Addressing Drug Abuse and Addiction” highlighting the pressing need to tackle the growing issue of drug abuse among Nigerian youth.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroots Sports Development, Adebanji Atewogboye, described the tournament as a “campus storming activation” including a dynamic campaign that will include pre-event promotions and visits to participating schools.

According to him, the initiative aims to grow beach soccer culture across campuses while creating a launchpad for young talents to pursue professional opportunities in the sport.

“This highly anticipated Lagos Campus Beach Soccer event will feature students from leading institutions across Lagos State. It aims to promote beach soccer culture while providing young talents with a platform to showcase their skills and potentially pursue careers in professional beach soccer,” Atewogboye stated.

According to Bamidele Adeleye, the Managing Director of BrandEscort Communications, this year’s tournament is themed “Addressing Drug Abuse and Addiction” highlighting the pressing need to tackle the growing issue of drug abuse among Nigerian youth and he hereby seek corporate organizations to support the initiative, through partnerships with the Lagos State Government.
