‎Editors from UNILAG Sun, also team AD-Dictives comprising of Mighty Oluwayemi, Online Editor, Emmanuel Oladipo, Deputy Online Editor, and Azeezat Olatunde, Features Editor, emerged winners of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Mass Communication PRADWAVE 3.0 competition.

‎In an exclusive interview with UNILAG Sun, the team revealed that their use of artificial intelligence tools (AI), rigorous research, and creativity earned them this year’s cash prize of ₦200,000.

Mighty Oluwayemi expressed his excitement, having attempted the competition twice before but failed.

‎Advising fellow students in the Mass Communication Department, the team encouraged them to be active in various organizations to build a strong portfolio for themselves.

‎Guest speaker Uche Ozor, a Creative Nerd, spoke on the topic “Debunking Myths in Advertising and PR.” He highlighted the distinction between Public Relations and Advertising, stating that public relations is strategic and involves more than just press releases, while advertising reflects what others perceive about an organization. Ozor also emphasized that advertising is evolving rather than on the decline.

The runners-up, Team Transformers, won ₦150,000, and Team Creative Erudite emerged as second runners-up with a cash prize of ₦75,000.

Precious Salau, a member of Team Triad, won a paid internship at M.inc PR company.

PRADWAVE was organized by the UNILAG PRAD Club, a student-led platform established to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry realities. The club has become a place for training, and exposing students to practical experience in PR and Advertising.

As one of the most ambitious projects of the organizers, PRADWAVE aims at offering students the opportunity to work in teams to create real campaign strategies in response to industry-inspired briefs.

‎The event was attended by Racheal Otuekong, Senior PR Account Manager at M.Inc PR, Adeshina Owonifari, a creative strategist and department alumnus, and Emmanuel Adediran, a Marketing and Advertising strategist.
