Image from Unilag WebsiteSponsors of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Library Maker’s Space, Alpha Morgan Capital Managers Limited, have commenced plans to renovate the library.
Come October 2023, the start of a new session, there will be a refreshing, functional and vibrant ambience to the main library.
Alpha Morgan and James Boer Limited (JBL), the project contractor are partnering with members of the University to deliver the project quickly.
The stakeholders held a site meeting on Thursday, July 27, 2023. This was to ensure the vision for the space is fully integrated into its redevelopment.
Present at the meeting were the: University of Lagos Librarian, Professor Yetunde A. Zaid; Ag. Director of Works and Physical Planning Department, Engineer Johnson A. Akinwande accompanied by some staff of the Department.
Others included representatives of Alpha Morgan Capital Managers Limited, Mr. Bidemi Alfred and Ma’am Jane Aloke.
Also present was the Managing Director of JBL, Adm. James Boer (Rtd) accompanied by some staff & interns of the company. And representative of the Communication Unit, University of Lagos, Nike Ogunshakin.
Arc. Shemo Akpene, Project Director, JBL (and UNILAG alumnus) gave the group a technical tour of work done thus far. His descriptions visualised some of the design elements that are intended to add beauty and functionality to the project.
Furthermore, he explained that some of the work in progress were offsite. They would be installed at appropriate intervals during the construction process.
