MCSA To Hold Annual Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 4

By Barakat Lawal

The Mass Communication Students Association (MCSA), University of Lagos (UNILAG), will hold its annual end-of-session dinner on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Banilux Events Centre, Sabo-Yaba, Lagos.

Themed, “White-Out: The Grand Transition,” the event centres on celebrating excellence, resilience, and community among students in the department.

Speaking on the theme, MCSA’s president, Priscilla Oboh, described the dinner as an opportunity to reflect on collective growth, as the department has experienced both challenges and achievements in recent months.

Encouraging students to attend the dinner, Oboh said, “It’s a chance to celebrate, relax and reward ourselves, after the rigours of the academic session… Most importantly, it’s a reminder that we’re part of a vibrant community where excellence is recognised and every contribution matters.”

She also noted that attendees should expect an evening of celebration, elegance, and connection, as this year’s dinner is more than just a social gathering, but a night to honour outstanding contributions, showcase the spirit of Mass Communication, and create unforgettable memories.

“From the red carpet experience to the awards segment and live entertainment, we have carefully curated the programme to give everyone a rich and fulfilling experience. We have spoken word performances, live music from sensational musicians, and the best DJ in town for the after-party. It’s where fun meets glamour,” she said.

Expected guests at the dinner include renowned alumni such as Miss Jumoke Alawode-James; Dr. Mumini Alao, GMD, Complete Communications Limited; Mr. Odion Aleobua, CEO, Modion Communications; Mr. Tinder Thani, CEO, Explicit Communications; Mr. Aderemi Ogunpitan, Consultant, IBST Ltd; Mr. Simon Kolawole, Founder of TheCable; alumni celebrity personalities like Virtuosi, Ibquake, and AsherKine; respected faculty members; and professionals from the media and communication industry.

Oboh also noted that the presence of these professionals, alumni, and guests will not only inspire but also reinforce the strong connection between MCSA, alumni, and the broader industry students are preparing for.
