JUST IN: Heavy Security at UNILAG Main Gate as One ‘Dies’ in NANS Election

UNILAG MAIN GATE

By Daniel Nnamani

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has increased security around its main gate after a yet-to-be-identified man was shot dead near Pako, along Bariga road.

It was gathered that the victim was killed in an ongoing election of members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

Officers of the institutions’ security unit, Alpha Base, were seen conducting security checks on those entering the campus.

In a security alert obtained by UNILAG Sun, the executives of El-Kanemi Hall warned students to restrict movement near the affected area.

“Please be careful and mindful of your movements, especially around Pako,” the statement read.

The message added that the shooting happened during the student election and resulted in a fatality.

“Student election (NANS) is underway and shootings occurred. Unfortunately, someone got shot. Please be safe,” it added.

Students are therefore advised to be cautious when moving around the university environs, especially on the Ilaje-Bariga road.
