Time Higher Education Ranks UNILAG Nigeria’s 1st Varsity

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking, has placed the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as first university in Nigeria.

‎The 2026 list released on Thursday, October 9, indicates that UNILAG is sharing the first place spot alongside the University of Ibadan (UI) in the 801-1000 range of over 2191 institution across the world.
‎
‎Outside Nigeria, UNILAG is also sharing the 801-1000 range with several institutions including University of Cape Coast, Ghana; Makerere University, Ghana; Alexandria University, Egypt; Cairo University, Egypt; Ains Sham University,Egypt; Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Mexico, among others.

‎The ranking which was meticulously conducted based on calibrated performance indicators included areas like teaching, research environment, research quality, and industry and international Outlook.

‎The UNILAG’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Folashade Ogunsola appreciates the university community for the attainment of this feat.
