The University of Lagos Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened to embark on a strike due to outstanding salary payments.
In a communique issued at the end of an emergency congress held on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, the union announced plans to withdraw services starting Wednesday, 11 March, 2026.
UNILAG ASUU reported that the decision followed the non-payment of full salaries for January and February 2026, describing the university administration’s actions as ‘discriminatory and unfeeling.’
It further accused the administration of amputating the February 2026 salaries, a move it says violates ‘all tenets of decency’.
According to ASUU, while some staff on Akoka Campus did not receive any Earned Allowance Adjustment (EAA) payments for January, staff on Idi-Araba Campus did not receive either EAA or CATA payments.
In line with its resolution, ASUU-UNILAG rejected the partial payments in full and declared that members would withdraw all services until the full payment of the January and February 2026 salaries is made.
A source close to the matter said that the university management has called for an emergency meeting to resolve the issue.
UNILAG Sun contacted Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, Head of UNILAG’s Communication Unit for comment on the matter, but she could not respond at press time.
