AMCRON to Hold 5th International Academic Conference at UNILAG

The Association of Media and Communication Researchers of Nigeria (AMCRON) is set to hold its International Academic Conference and Annual General Meeting at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

Themed, “Issues in Artificial Intelligence: The Media and Democracy,” the conference is scheduled to take place from 3-4 of December 2025.

In a statement on Sunday, November 30, AMCRON announced that reputable speakers from academia, industry, and the public and private sectors will participate in the conference.

The conference which will hold at the Biodun Sobanjo Multimedia Centre of Excellence, UNILAG, is open to media practitioners, academia, policy makers, social researchers, and others.

President of AMCRON, Professor Eserinune Mojaye, urged stakeholders to attend the event, highlighting the importance of exploring AI’s impact on media practices and democratic participation.

He called on media practitioners, academia, and policy makers to attend the event, with the opening ceremony set for Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

The Southwest Zone Coordinator of the AMCRON conference, Dr. Kehinde Oyesomi, encouraged attendees to critically examine AI opportunities and challenges in Nigeria.

“The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping societies, economies, and cultures in profound ways,” he said.

“In the realm of mass media and democracy, AI has introduced both opportunities and challenges.”

The conference aims to bring together diverse perspectives, foster dialogue, share research findings, and generate actionable insights to guide the development of policies, innovations, and ethical frameworks.
